Year-At-A-Glance Census Calendar

October
Beginning of Census cycle

Mail a Student Listing Report to the School Districts that had children on the Census for the previous year.  This will give the schools a "heads-up" for the coming Census to begin gathering data, checking to see who needs assessment, who needs to be added, etc.

December
December 1 Deafblind Child Count Date.

Generate Green Forms for current children on the Deafblind Census. Up until this point, a Region can add the names and information of children that have entered a school district that year. If a student is added before the printing, the school will receive a completed Green Form for that child.

January
Mail out Deafblind Census packets to all public schools (including Charter Schools) in the state of Texas. These packets include everything the school will need to determine whether a child has a classification of "Deafblind", and return a form for that child and all current Census children.

February
Attention: Special Education Teachers:  Completed Census Forms are due back to the Regional Deafblind Specialist at the Education Service Centers by February 4th. The ESC's will check for accuracy and completeness before mailing them to Texas Tech.

March
Attention Regional Deafblind Specialist:  Completed Census Forms are due back to Texas Tech, Roseanna Davidson's office (see Contact Information). The entire Census process is impacted by the accuracy and completeness of the forms when received in Roseanna Davidson's office. This is so important!

Update of Deafblind Census Database by Deafblind Census at Sowell Center of Visual Impairment at Texas Tech.

April
Statewide dissemination of Texas Census Data at Deafblind Quarterly Meeting in Austin.

May
Federal Deafblind Census Form A report due to NTAC on May 1st.
