Abstractslideshow of children

A component of the Texas Deafblind Project, this Texas Education Agency funded grant's focus is maintaining basic demographic information on children with deafblindness in the State of Texas for program planning and evaluation purposes.  Such data includes hearing, vision, etiology, educational placement, living arrangement, and other information necessary to ensure a high quality program that meets the needs of the State served by the project.

Project Summary

The Texas Deafblind Project is significantly expanding the effectiveness of the centrally located project by creating 20 regional networks encompassing the state.  Each region now has a designated regional deafblind specialist who is receiving training to provide local expertise in deafblindness.  the project technical assistance component trains and supports the 20 regional networks, while continuing to lead and coordinate statewide efforts to implement systemic change, provide training, and support families in collaboration with national, state, and regional systems.  In addition, new regional family coordinators identified by the statewide family support organization, the Deaf-Blind Multihandicapped Association of Texas (DBMAT), are receiving training and support.  The Deafblind Census component of the project continues to compile the state deafblind census data for inclusion in the Federal Deafblind Census and for statewide needs assessment and evaluation, and provides training in the completion of the census.
