NYC Artist Studio in the Aftermath

Nealy MacKenzie

The concept of my room centers around the attacks on the United States on September 11th. In the wake of what has happened, I have designed my room to reflect the space of someone living in New York City during this traumatic time. Because I am an artist, I created a space that I would use as a studio and as a tribute to all that have been affected by the acts of violence against our country. Art is often used as a method of healing for many so I found it appropriate to mirror ties with my life into this space. My short video, Invasion, shows the lives of the innocent, something that for many children is not such a luxury anymore. Actual photographs of the attack sites in New York, taken by Dr. Karen Keifer-Boyd, serve as reality and memorial for those living in this great city today.
