This is a wonderful site that is organized as a timeline of World War II.  It contains a listing of the major events starting with the end of World War I.  There are links to many of these events that offer more explanation and some excellent photographs.

This site contains a list of links to many issues in World War II.  It is excellent source for basic information on key leaders, campaigns, and battles.  Most of the material was drawn from the Encyclopedia Americana.

This is the website for the Institute on World War II and the Human Experience at Florida State University.   The Institute’s objective is to collect as many records of the American experience in World War II, in particular letters and diaries, as possible.  There is a very good section of photographs.

This is an invaluable source for links on almost every aspect of the American war effort.  It provides access to primary documents, photographs, official military histories, and many other topics.

This site has over 170 oral histories from servicemen and women who served in World War II.  Most had been students at Rutgers University or Douglass College.

This is the RAF’s official site on the Battle of Britain from July to October 1940.  It includes the daily reports of air actions from July 10 to October 31, 1940.  It also has descriptions of the key airplanes and leaders who were involved in the battle.

This site contains oral histories from Holocaust survivors.   Dr. Sid Bolkosky at the University of Michigan-Dearborn took the oral histories.  He has interviewed 150 survivors.  Eleven of the interviews are currently available on-line.

This site offers extensive information about U.S. submarines and crews lost during World War II.  It contains pictures of each of the submarines that were lost as well as a brief history.

 Sinking of the Indianapolis

This site contains the story of the USS Indianapolis.  It is maintained by some of the survivors of the sinking.  One of its stated purposes was to win exoneration for their captain.  This happened in October 2000.
